Mitsubishi DA-R20 receiver - fix or dump?

I have recently pulled my old Mitsubishi DA-R20 out of storage along with 4 Pioneer HPM100 speakers.

I purchased these items in the mid-80s and got a lot of use out of them, but had to store them due to lack of space probably 8 years ago.

The speakers look great -they held up well. The receiver though doesn't tune FM properly and some of the speaker contacts are a little fragile with the sound cutting out periodically.

The receiver was working well when I stored it - I suspect it just needs a good cleaning.

Generally speaking is it better to invest some money getting these older components fixed, or would I be better off buying a new receiver?

I'm more interested in quality components than in saving a few bucks - but I would be interested in getting some expert opinions.

Receiver maintenance.

If you can clean off the VC and speaker terminals with some electrical contact cleaner and repair a few solder joints, then go for it, but I wouldn't invest money to repair the old gear.

For any serius HT system, you will want a 5.1 or 7.1 system with Dolby, DTS, etc. processing.

The old speakers might work OK but the foam surround material on woofers tends to deterioriate over time.
