Any thoughts on this sub? I googled a link to Audiogon where there were 3 positive comments on it. I thought I would ask here. Thanks.

My experience with Mirage subs has mostly been negative, but I've heard at least one that was really good. What's your budget and room size?

I appreciate your honesty. Buget and room size are non-issues in this case.

This is an ebay deal that is within driving distance from me. This sub weighs 110lbs. It has been spay painted by an idiot so it's really ugly with over spray everywhere. I wouldn't have to pay shipping. My sub is placed behind the curved part of a sectional couch so I would never have to look at it. I was thinking that it might be a upgrade over my Infinity PS10 for maybe $100 or so. It's really ugly. The guy painted the cloth grills too.

I'm going to take the lack of response to this thread to be a case of people not saying anything if they can't say anything nice so that helps too. Thanks.:)

It's probably that there's not a lot of experience with that particular sub. It could very well be the one I've heard that was good. Without being sure, I wouldn't go for it and would stick to something from SVS and HSU who have a strong reputation in subs.

My friend has this sub and it really doesn't sound as BIG as it looks. My 12" HSU has much more output and goes deeper.
That Mirage was an OK sub 7-8 years ago, but the technology has improved so much that you can get a better sub that is one third the size of that monster.
Check out Epik, Elemental Designs, SVS, Hsu, etc.

Well I guess that puts the last nail in that coffin. At least I won't feel like it was the one that got away. I'll live with my Infinity PS10 a while longer and look forward to getting something that out performs it later on. I'm really turned on by the idea of a sub being able to out perform something 3 times as big. :) It's the condo dweller in me.

Thanks,
Alex
