That’s what I did too. Although I’ve seen recommendations to run REW/mini first to give Audyssey less to do. Don’t know fo sho...
Okay, I'm working up the energy to do this. As I recall, the last time I calibrated I did a sweep with REW and applied the filters with no tweaking. Then ran audyssey, then manually tweaked. Audyssey actually made the curve a little more uneven after checking with a sweep. Thus making the manual tweak afterwards with the mini almost necessary.
I have to be honest here. I allowed REW to go +/- 9db with some of the filters. I have a pair of powerful 15" subs that I believe can handle the bumps. I rarely listen at reference levels, my subs never appear or sound stressed and their amps have never, ever been hot to touch. Luke warm is the most I've gotten when touching them even after a very spirited listening session.
I mention this because that's how I get those pretty, flat looking charts. Everything sounds very good to me, and I have a pretty good point of reference after hearing those 802 D3's powered by all that McIntosh gear. I can get to a significant fraction of the sq I heard there, on my system, with the exact same song, as well as I can remember. I know auditory memory is short lived, but I wasn't disappointed when I played the same song on my system when I got home.
