Synching itself isn't the problem. Of course you want to be able to sync the contents of the iPod with the media library on your computer. The issue is that the ONLY way to do that is to use iTunes. A lot of people would prefer to be able to just treat the iPod as a hard drive and set up the file system any way they choose without having to use proprietary software to do so.

Agreed. It is so fast and easy to open up my mp3 folder and drag my songs over with my Creative. No need to open up other programs and convert mp3 files.
