Michael Vick - Yea or Nay?

2. He did wrong, paid his dues and deserves a second chance

My vote is for 1 – what he did is reprehensible and he should not be allowed to have anything to do with professional anything.

I have a personal discust for what he did and admittedly have trouble looking past it.

He's a scumbag. Being banned from football wouldn't have been enough. Send him back to jail.

He paid his debt... He has the same right to earn a living as anybody else who gets out of prison. Rog did the right thing by letting back in, now its up to a team to decide to give him a chance.

Sure, what he did was wrong and disgusting, and he served his time. Time to move on.

I don't follow football, but the topic came up briefly between my brother and I. I was asking, and perhaps implying slim chances, about his chances to play again. He said sure he was going to. I asked about the reprehensibility of his actions, and he said many football players have done worse things, perhaps manslaughter, rape, etc. He thinks that it's accepted that hurting humans is a more serious offense than hurting other animals.

So, IF* what he's saying is true, which I'm not certain of, if we want to keep Vick out, it would only seem fair that we were consistent with other players and their crimes.

he made a mistake he appears to have learned his lesson. Let him in.

I'll cheer for him to do well and make something of himself. As someone who's personally destroyed my own life before I'm all for second chances.

I agree according to the law he has done the time. Even though I don't agree with the punishment that was given (3 years in prison and $2500 fine). And he has paid more then his fair share financially when you look at what he lost in income.

But I just don't like what he was involved in. Like it or not he was in a position to be a positive role model. And what are we saying to our kids if we glorify the man, and give him back everything he had before? It's OK to do the crime? This was a felony we are talking about.

On the NFL, what he was imprisoned for has nothing to do with his ability to perform his job. It's the job of the parents to be role models and teach right from wrong, not a sports figure, a movie star, a politician, etc.

Better yet, if he doesn't perform up to expectations on his new team, the couch has the authority to kill him - just like he felt was his right to do with the dogs.

Big No to Vick playing again. I'm tired of seeing NFL guys getting off with a slap on the wrist for crimes they've committed and then going on with their lives like nothing happened. You don't deserve to be rewarded if you can't control your own stupidity. T.O. standing up for Vick doesn't help his case in my book either.

It's sad that professional athletes, who are looked up to more than parents and teachers, are held to a lesser behavioral standard than parents and teachers...

Exactly my thoughts. He's in the position of being looked up to by thousands of children. Is he what we want as a role model for our kids? Put me down for a no. He can find work out of the camera's eye.

Yup, if I were convicted of that I would have done prison time and then discharged from the military with a dishonorable discharge. I would never see a job paying above minimum wage for the rest of my life with that on my record. NFL player gets to go back to being a celebrity making millions of dollars.

I'm pretty sure cows don't fight each other while the owners take bets before we eat them.

I don't think he should be let back in period. I would rather kill people who do that to animals than look at them.What he did was a FELONY and yes he did his time but the crime is a animal crime and that really PO'S me to no end.I hope nobody takes him.......

Mike Vick should be treated like anyone else that has been involved in criminal activity/suspensions. He should have the rights to ask for re-instatement and the rest ulitimately rests in the hands of the commisioner. Personally, I do not know what to think of him possibly coming back to the league, he probably will not be much of a factor anyways if he gets signed.

The only thing I get about this situation is that Goodell contradicted his prior words/actions about punishing players that cast a black cloud over his sport. His actions fall in line with the other lame duck commisioners (Selig et al) that bury their head in the sand when it really matters.
