It might be illegal, but it has no reason to be illegal except for political reasons. I personally have no interest in weed, but from what I have read, tobacco and alcohol are more dangerous products. And besides, regardless of safety, unless you think people should be controlled like little kids, by a nanny state, then no one has any right to tell you what you can or can not put into your own body. The government has really overstepped it's bounds here.
As far as I'm concerned, he was just exercising what should be his right to do anyways.
