Does anybody have Meridian speakers?

How do they fair against other speakers at that price level?

Would a Power Amp + speakers be better value for money in trying to acheive the same level of quality?

Can anyone give reason's for or against Meridian's (value for money?)

If i was to build a 7.1 (without the Sub) what Meridians would i buy as a matching system? (Fronts, Centre, Surrounds, Rears, what models would match together and provide best value for money?)

Thanks.

Meridian is a UK based company. Their speakers are very expensive and I have only heard the dsp 8000 and I think that was 22,000 for a pair. How much are you willing to spend?

I was considering having them shipped from the US, they are much cheaper there.

I would probably just be aiming at the DSP5000 or DSP5500. But what rears and surrounds do you get to match them?

For those who care, i auditioned a set of DSP5500's today with a DSP5000 centre. I tell you what, i wasn't all that impressed, i was expecting to be blown away but to my suprise i didn't really like the midrange vocals, to much on the ol ears for me.

Funny thing is there worth a fortune here in OZ, more than double what they are worth in the USA, we get totally ripped off here.

I think for the money you could build a much better sounding system yourself, i'm off the actives now, not enough room to play with in terms of upgrading or changing parts etc.

Very limited.

I am swaying towards a softer tweeter midrange feel, maybe Dynaudio Contour or Dali. I think the Ribbon tweeters or the Esotar2 tweeters should be much sweeter for the ol ears.

I'll vouch for Dali :) I love the hybrid tweeter combo they have on their speakers. The whole range sounds very good to me, from the Ikons up to the Euphonia's.
