Media player frustrations :(

Do ALL media players get A - V disconnected?

I'm on my third unit, and it frustrates the snot out of me. Brand new KDLinks HD700 and I'm watching a movie that ripped awhile ago, and where I didn't hear it in previous versions of the film, kept hearing irritating pops and the audio became increasingly disconnected to the point it became unwatchable.

So, I DL a BD of the same movie, and fast forwarded to the same point in the movie... and the audio is "slightly" disconnected. Several stops and restarts gets it almost connected. I have not attempted to watch that DL from the beginning, but would suspect I won't see an issue.

current hookup is the HD700 HDMI 1.3 to Pioneer SC-65, and HDMI to TV. Files are wirelessly served off WHS 1.0. Would local file storage have an impact?

Is the only solution a HTPC? It would only need to be a player, I have a file server available to store files.

Hi Phil,

I'm really not familiar with that model of media player but at a quick glance it seems to support a nice wide variety of files. I use a Popcorn Hour C-300 connected to my server on a wired connection.

I would first try and use a wired connection to see if that makes a difference.

What speed wireless are you using?

Is this only the one movie that is the issue? What software are you using to rip the movie?

only have one wire at that location, but I do have a simple router collecting dust. IRC, that device is only G.

Doesn't matter if I've ripped it, or it's been DL, seem to have the same issues. Also, with the D-Link (2nd unit), didn't matter if it was wireless or wired, still had issues.

No issues with my Dune Smart or Base 3.0 units with my Blu-ray ISO rips. Sounds like it may be a player issue. The cheaper players can be nice on the wallet, but it really seems like they are all missing out on product quality.
