Hi, i was wondering if anyone might be able to answer this and why it would happen.
I was listing to my System loud but not too loud (my reciver is only 90 watts a channel anyway) and i seen some smoke coming out of my center:eek: so i took the cover off and my tweeter was oll puffed out like it blew up, i had it hooked up right so i have no idea, i know SVS will send me a new one so im not worried about that but i thought it was strange.

Man, I feel ripped off. I mean I have blown plenty of speakers and have yet to see any smoke but I hear others saying it happens.

90 watts and loud may be a bad combo as you may be clipping the amp. Spread out your fingers and carefully push in on the drivers and see if you feel a "rubbing" or hear a scratching sound.

You might want to check your receiver to see if it's sending too much current to your speaker. Could be a bad component or short internally? I don't think I'd use it without checking it out first.

SVS got back with me and they are going to ship me a new tweeter and they said the same thing about the clipping, so i am going to upgrade forsure now i just have to figure out what to get now:confused: so even though my tweeter smoked i guess it is going to work out better because now i HAVE to buy some more new stuff:D

Bummer buddy.... glad SVS is taking care of it for you... they are truly a great company, and take care of their customers...

I have not had one issue with the MTS's... they have been bulletproof here since I have had them. I have a feeling it wasn't a power related issue here, just a bad tweeter. Otherwise all the tweeters would have smoked as well.

Its a man made product, nothing is faultless...

That would only hold true if all the channels were recieving the same dynamics of the movie or music he was listening to at the time.

Otherwise all the tweeters would have smoked as well.
