McIntosh MAC-4100: Where to put it?

I feel your pain, my Studio 40v3s are hooked up to a Sony 5.1 (admittedly, just two shy of what was the top of their non-ES line), and I'm derusting (yes, someone abused the poor girl) a Mc2120 Amp right now to replace it.

Though I hear McIntosh's trade-up program is still ongoing... It's tempting to part with thie 2120 once I have her all clean and the felts replaced and go a bit more modern.

Remember: never trust "wattage". Everyone measures differently (and car audio is worse: they often simply lie). I'd take a McIntosh at the rated wattage over any of the "mainstream" lines at twice the rating.
Yaman, a McIe anytime for sure. :)

So just out of curiosity ... McIntosh seems pretty well thought of in here. With most (all?) of the original staff retired/dead/etc is there any concern of the company "heading in a new direction?"

i.e. .... Is anyone concerned of the company's good name being played to sell high dollar items with lower quality products?

I read someone claiming the MT10 was being made in China and not in the U.S. plant but have been unable to verify.

I will promise you unless a Mac is failing it will play ABOVE its rated specs. ;)

Glad to hear. I always liked the McIntosh brand but haven't really followed it as of late. Was just getting back into it and saw the changeover in management a few years ago and wondered if they were headed down the "sell out" path.

Now if they could just make a great A/V Receiver in the 3k realm I'd be happy as a pig in ... well, you know :D:D

McIntosh did make some receivers in the past, even an A/V receiver.

Yes. I see AudioCraft (Cleveland Ohio ... well, Aurora OH) has the MHT200 on clearance. They're asking 5k but I'm betting it will finally sell around 3k. damn ... only 1k more than I spent on my Integra. ........

Like others have said. Maybe see if anyone you know could use it.

Maybe try to set it up on a PC system?
