Do you shut her down to leverage deeper cuts, temporarily refund gov etc? Are the 11 hard-righters noobs? I dunno seems like a thankless job. What they originally had was greater border security plus a few other key things (though can't remember what they were).

This part was LOL.:)

The speaker doesn't have to be a member of the House. That led to Rep. Troy Nehls saying he'll be nominating Donald Trump for speaker.

However, Trump wouldn't be able to be speaker and president so it seems unlikely he would want to lead the House given he's running for a second White House term.

That's pretty bizarre. You want Trump as the House speaker. What a model example for the voice of the House. ;)

Coincidentally, our House of Commons just elected (voted in by members of parliament) a new Speaker.
Liberal MP Greg Fergus elected Speaker of the House of Commons | CBC News
The Speaker of the House of Commons serves a different role from that of Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. Under the Westminster System of Parliament, the Speaker serves more as a referee during parliamentary debate and is therefore, meant to act in a non-partisan fashion. After being elected to the position, he is symbolically "dragged" to his chair, reflecting the historical role of communicating House of Commons opinions to the monarch. If the monarch didn't care for what was said, it might not turn out well for the Speaker.

Oh, I thought this thread was on McCarthy. I guess I need to specify when speaking of say anything, do nothing self promoters in Washington. Those characteristics apply to so many of them but, yeah, I was talking about McCarthy.

Sure, but the current House Republicans are not interested in governing, except a minority. They’re not even committed to democracy.

Democrats say government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. Republicans say government doesn’t work. Once elected, they prove it. – P.J. O’Rourke

Seriously, I have no life.
Here is one nice zinger from a Democrat about the House GOP and supporting McCarthy:

>>>"There is reason after reason to just let Republicans deal with their own problems," Jayapal said. "Let them wallow in their pigsty of incompetence and inability to govern. [bold added]" <<<

And, in the meantime, the clock is ticking closer and closer to mid-November, a shut down and no more help to Ukraine.

Anybody who believes the Dems are completely committed to democracy should be committed to a mental hospital. Money comes first with all of those f#%kers and most politicians don't get anything done because theiy are too busy raising funds to keep their sorry asses in office so they can continue to serve certain special interests. One side whispers to the ear on the left and one side whispers into the ear on the right but the people are still getting f#%cked from behind either way. But, that's business as usual.

1st Speaker ever to be removed. Republican civil war to follow. As bad as the Dems can be (and they can be terrible) this is a complete Republican sh!t show, And I see it devolving more. So sad as I used to periodically vote Republican. But never for Trump or MAGA.
