Hi all, another noob here, I have been reading around a bit for a few days and just wanted to say nice furom here!

I am trying to match speakers/sub with my new Yamaha HTR 5990 reciever. I am highly considering getting the InfinityTSS-750's. I am wondering how these two would match up spec and audio wise, good or bad match, etc. It would be for home theater use.

Any comments would be appreciated, thanks in advance! :D

What quality are you looking for? That is a low end system at a low end price.

The F3 of the surrounds is 120 Hz, so the sub has to crossover high.

The speaker system really dominates the sound and performance of the system. Now infinity speakers I find usually have a pretty good tonal balance. I have never heard these and they may not be unduly unpleasant, but there are not going to impress.

Can you afford something with bigger well voiced speakers?

As one who is using the TSS-750 with an Onkyo 602 I have to disagree. They are definitely not "low end" in sound and build quality. How can you state they will not impress having never heard them?

Well I suppose it depends on personal standards, but I would not regards using speakers with an f3 of 120 Hz as high fidelity.

I subscribe to the view, "Do loudspeakers have to be large? No, but it really, really helps!"

The receiver will have no problem running them. Whether you like them or not is only for you to decide.

Speaker options

IMHO a decent set of bookshelf speakers would be a better "match" for your receiver than a satellite speaker system. What is your budget? Room? WAF requirements? Your receiver will be fine driving anything in the 6-8 ohm range.

And one good way to decide is to compare them to something else. Where would you buy the TSS's and how much would they cost you?
