Hey all,

First time poster here. I have been researching AVR's for the last couple months and getting pretty set on the Marantz sr6003 to pair up with my M80's (4 ohm), I have a 6 year old yammy now. I know, it's time to upgrade...

I have posted on another forum, but only a couple people have 4 ohm speakers with the sr6003 and it's been tough to find any posts concerning the sr6003 driving 4 ohms. So far, I haven't seen anyone with any shutdown issues.

So just wondering if anyone has 4 ohm speakers (especially Axiom M80's) paired up with the sr6003?

Respectfully,

Absence of negative is not proof of positive :D.

I would recommend that you not do it. While it may work for very low volumes, the moment you turn it up, the amp section will run out of power/ headroom and shut down.

The M80's will be best paired with a dedicated amp (if your other speakers are easy to drive only a 2 channel one will be sufficient). There are several options out there, but, Emotiva's UPA-2 and Behringer EP2500 are excellent value for money.

Cannot speak to the 6003 but my 7002 drives my kappa's (6 ohms dipping to 4 at times) perfectly fine at moderate to high volumes easily. By loud I refer to 90-95 db.

Yes, I was afraid of that. I was thinking of going with a pro amp. I'm probably just going to get refurb Denon 2809 & then get a pro amp. Thanks so much for your help!
