I am looking for a new receiver for my Family Room System. It will need to power a pair of Swans Diva 4.2s and also have powered Multiroom speakers for my outdoor speakers. I will also have a sub in the family room system.

I am eyeing a Marantz SR6001 that is on sale for only about $370. Right now I am utilizing my old HK AVR7000 which has a very large amplifier. I have never used any Marantz equipment before and was curious to hear some other opinions.

I am mainly concerned that the smaller Marantz will negatively effect my Swans sound and output abilities.

I have no need for any surround in this system my only need is for a solid amp to power my Swans and give me the Multiroom flexibility for the outdoor speakers.

Any other suggestions are welcome. I would like to keep my budget as low as possible with out taking a hit on Amplifier quality and not loose the Multiroom functionality.

Thanks

Hm.

Well, if it doesn't cut if for you, you can use the preouts on the Marantz in order to use your HK's amp?

Hm.

Dunno man.

Does the multiroom flexibility able to play the source at the same time to both outdoor/indoor? Is this the main reason why you just can't pick up a new stereo receiver for $100? It's most likely because you want the sources connected to the Family room system used for the outdoor? If you look at any of those particular sources you want, do any of them have more than one set of output jacks?

Just throwing out ideas in the case you might be lucky enough to spend even less, and keep your good amp as you say.

That's a nice receiver IMO

My HK does have a Multiroom function, however it needs an external amp. Not to mention my factory remote for this is damaged and there are none available from HK. I have a Harmony Universal I use now but the functionality is just not as good. I think I have finally grown tired of the inconvienence. I am planning to try and sell my HK and also I have an Onkyo TX_SR 304 that I am using as the external amp for the outdoor speakers. I was hoping that I could sell both and then not have to spend all that much more to get the newer reciever and simplify the equation. It also will look much nicer in my family room having only 1 reciever and a CD player and that is all.

Hence my reason for wanting to go with a new receiver.
