i have a marantz sr-7000 AV Receiver and just replaced my yamaha cd changer with a marantz 4300 cd changer. the cd changer is connected via analog rcas.
problem is this:
the sr-7000 keeps flashing 'peak' as if the cd changer output level is too high.
my yamaha had an adjustment on the cd player for output level.
i can't seem to find on e on the 4300.
does anyone know if it can be adjusted on the cd player or on the receiver?
thanks for the help!

p.s. the receiver doesn't seem to have the problem when it's on 'cd-direct' mode. i would prefer to keep cd-direct OFF.
thanks.

Is the peak indicator supposed to be a peak level meter; ie show you when the sample from the cd hits digital full scale (0db)? If so, then I don't think there is anything wrong with it. If you are playing a relatively new rock/pop cd, I would expect the peak indicator to light constantly.

CDs today are mastered extremely hot (very high average power) and I have more than a few cds where the peak level meter constantly hits 0dB and clips (more than 3 consecutive samples at 0dB).

I have the same receiver and the same thing happens with my CD player. I haven't noticed any degredation of sound. I would just ignore it.
