Marantz 8400 v. Rotel 1067

Anyone heard both receivers? Heard, and love, the Rotel, but don't know if I can justify the additional $700.

Hey-
While I hvent heard the Marantz, I have heard the Rotel, and am planning on purchasing one. If price is a concern, and you are planning on running a 5.1 HT, you might also consider the Rotel 1056. I know that the 1056 is rated at 75 x 7 vs. the Marantz spec of 7 x 110, but I dont know how much I would trust the Marantz claim. Rotel is know to be fairly truthful about their power ratings, and occasionally underrate themselves.
A few bits of info:
Weight
1067: 54 lbs
1055: 38 lbs
8400: 35 lbs.
More power means more weight.
Power consumption:
1067:990 watts
1056: 450 watts
8400: ?? The applets on their website kept crashing my comp, but worth checking out.

And in the end, this isnt about numbers and stats....find a dealer who is willing to let you try them out...go with your ears, money be damned

Thanks for the input. I have decided on the Rotel 1056 and was looking for a retailer, either brick or mortar (I live in the NYC area) or online, where I can get a good price. It's easy to find big discounts on Marantz and Denon, but I can't find anyone selling Rotel at even a 10% discount to MSRP.

Can anyone suggest a dealer that offers the Rotel line at a discount to MSRP? As always, I appreciate your input...

Spearit Sound (www.northamptonaudio.com) has been great to me, give them a call (617 734 8800) and see what they can do for you. I dont know what they want for a 1056, but they have been extremely helpful with me. They also have a used RSX-1055 (the model that preceded the 1056, in black) for $849 (retail $1300) that might be worth checking out (its 5 x 75). They also have an rsx-972 for $699 (retail $1300).
