Marantz 7702 HDMI dual monitor question

Can the 7702 send video to 2 monitors at same time? Not sure if it's just one or the other, if it can is there brief tips on settings?
I basically want the ability to use a small HDMI monitor to access menu for adjustments as the system is hidden somewhat. Also I don't always want to turn on projector to make audio session adjustments, or have to squint at tiny display. Ty

It's on page 189 of the Owner's Manual:
==============================
Video Output
Select the HDMI monitor connector to be used.
Auto(Dual)
(Default):
The presence of a TV connected to the
HDMI MONITOR 1 or HDMI MONITOR 2
connector is detected automatically, and
that TV connection is used.

Monitor 1: A TV connected to the HDMI MONITOR
1 connector is always used.

Monitor 2: A TV connected to the HDMI MONITOR
2 connector is always used.

- If both the HDMI MONITOR1 and HDMI MONITOR2 connectors are
connected and “Resolution” is set to “Auto”, the signals are output with a
resolution that is compatible with both TVs. When “Resolution” is not set to
“Auto”, video may not be output. In this case, set a resolution that is
compatible with both TVs. (v p. 194)
You can check which resolutions are compatible with your TV in “HDMI
Monitor 1” and “HDMI Monitor 2”. (v p. 247)
- This can be set by pressing HDMI OUT on the main unit.
==============================

My interpretation of this is that you either need to manually set the resolution to the highest common resolution of both units (the projector and monitor), or leave it on Auto. If set to Auto, it will try and detect the highest common resolution and use the same resolution for both units. If one of the units is off, then it should detect the highest resolution of the powered on unit. Auto-detection does not always work perfectly, so experiences may vary.

So that really won't work for him. I bet his small monitor is lower resolution than his projector. If he used a switch then he would have lots of cabling and he would still have to set the system to the lowest resolution.

Essentially the AVP is also just a switch, which is why the resolution has to be the same for both screens. His fundamental problem is that his system design is bad, and he should not have built it out that way.

It should work if the monitor matches the projector resolution. If it's a 4k projector, you can use a 4k computer monitor instead of a TV. Some have speakers built in if that's needed but it sounds like speakers are not required for Monitor2 in this instance.

Is there not a Smart device available in the home in which to download the Marantz AVR Remote App? It should work with the AV7702mkII but not the AV7702. I had asumed the unit here was the mkII in other threads but that may not be the case.

The Marantz 7702 was released October 2014, and the MKII October 2015. Both my 7702s are the early version. They are working fine, in he great room and family room. Both remotes failed by I have replaced them with ones from Remotes.com. They are better remotes and seem to keep working.

This is 100% true. I had a monitor in the back and projector and you cannot do both and it will always revert to the lower resolution. Now with a HTPC you can feed this way.

The mkII is still supported by the app and a Smart device running iOS or Android could be used to make settings changes and a second monitor would not be needed for display of the Setup Menu.

There's always one of you, how is my design bad and how did I screw up building it?
You know nothing, have seen no images to nerd-judge me. Pump the brakes kid, you don't always have to be that guy online.

Well you are here because its functionality is awkward. The hallmark of elegant design is Form AND Function. The two should be joined at the hip.

Unfortunately I don't have the MKII, I'd invest in new model but this unit still suits my needs, and I'm waiting to see what development comes out of the new open source object based surround.

You feel taller now? Cheer up, people throw shade when they don't get enough sun.
You don't impress me.
