Marantz 1070 getting more Volume from right channel.

My Marantz 1070 is putting more volume out of the right than the left... What should I do? I've crossed the Pre in and out so I guess it's the power amp in it... Would it just be a capacitor or do these power amps go bad??? I cleaned everything that I could with contact cleaner... No help... Any ideas?

Have your measured with an spl meter and pink noise? Didn't you just get this unit refurbished?

Yeah... it was supposed to be refurbished... It wasn't working at all.... The relay wouldn't click... So I talked to the repair man and he said he tested it but didn't test to see if the channels were the same or something.... All he did was clean it... I wish I knew because i could have done what he did. Im just getting into learning about how all this stuff works... I spoke with Ken Kreisel from the old M&K about a problem I had with an old sub and used Deoxit and it's perfect... But this i think would have to be the left channel of the power amp or a capacitor right?

Have you switched the speakers over? You need to make sure this is not a speaker issue. If the issue stays with the speaker it is the speaker, if it crosses over it is the amp. It will be the quiet amps that is defective and unless you have experience in service and have equipment you will not service it yourself. You will need at least a circuit and a full service manual would be better.

That is an old integrated amp and yes, you will get more failures with ago.

The signal path needs following though with signal generator and o-scope to see where the gain structure is disturbed, and then finding why.
