I was determined to use MMG's in my small (11.5' x 17' x 8') living room. I wanted to suspend them off the floor in such a way that if they didn't work, i could send them back to Magnepan in perfect condition. My solution was to use a Bogen/Manfrotto Autopole system i had in my basement photo studio. It turned out to work perfectly, so the Maggies are now part of my HT living room system.
Here's some photos of the Bogen Superclamp attachments i used to position the MMG's away from the wall & angled into my couch listening area.
So i needed 2 Autopoles ($155), 6 Superclamps ($25 ea.), 2, 6" extensions ($16), & 2 J-Hooks ($10) to complete the set-up.
Brand new from B&H Photo around $330,

I used some small paver bricks to give them a more solid base than my ugly wall to wall carpeting. The spring loaded design keeps them very secure & at high volume they didn't rattle or shift position. The heavy suction cups at the top will leave marks on your ceiling unless you put paper or something in between. Their are lots of options with the Autopoles including extensions for higher ceilings, bases for a floor support etc.
I know this set-up is kinda pricey but considering my akward room & the price of MMG's, i'm elated with being able to keep them & thought it might help other people who have less than ideal rooms for the smaller Magnepans.
