Almost hijacked another thread for this, but I thought I would just make my own. What does everyone think about Mackie studio monitors, mainly the MR5 and MR8's? I'm looking for a new pair of computer speakers and these I can get for a great price. Also in the mix are the M-Audio BX5a Deluxe model. I've had a chance to listen to both of these and they both were very nice, has anyone had experience with them and could share their opinion? Thanks as always.

I haven't heard those exact models, but I did hear some older versions that were similar to those in a music only setup, active (powered) versions, and I thought they sounded excellent. Based on the current trend here though, I am certain the Behringer 2030p will also be recommended.

I highly recommend the KRK Rokit 5 as a self-powered small monitor speaker. It is truly unique in quality for the price. It has lower cabinet resonance than is normal - making for relatively accurate timbre. It is a rather accurate, very extended response LF(for it's 5" driver size). I have analyzed/measured this device and found it to be unusually high in quality for the dollars spent.

Here is a measurment set including full range response, off axis response and distortion vs. frequency vs. SPL:

It appears the Rokit5 has been recently discontinued for the Rokit5 MkII. The MKII looks to be near identical. I have not measured the MkII, but I expect it will be very similar in response.
