Hi:

I'm looking to purchase my first Integrated Amplifier and have been looking at used Harmon Kardon, NAD, Sansui, Pioneer, ect. amps (less than $300 price range) and came across a Luxman Hybrid LV-103.

I've read some generally favourable reviews, however, a common theme seems to be that it's lacking in bass response. Any comments on this amp with respect to its bass performance or otherwise?

It will be driving Klipsch Forte's and Cerwin Vega's D5's and sometimes the original LArge Advent.

Would my money be better spent purchasing a 1970's Sansui or HArmon KArdon, NAD, etc.? I 'm also looking at a HK PM 655

Thanks in advance for your opionions.

Onix SP3 contest

Sign up to win the Onix SP3 integrated tube amp in this months contest. It retails for $1k. I also remember seeing some of the Onix solid state itegrateds on the sale or B-stock page in the $3-400 range at av123.com.

I am not too familiar with the models you list, but audiogon.com is a good site for lightly used audio gear.

The LV-103 is a great amp. Once upon a time, Luxman made awesome equipment, and the Hybrids were a prime example. I never found them light on bass, but ymmv.
