Good review.

I wonder how the performance of these headphones would compare to the performance of a $200 pair of headphones used with the Dolby Headphone DPS found on some new receivers.

It seams like a significant portion of the cost of the LTB is going to the decoder and amp electronics rather than the headphones itself.

Unfortunately my test gear is in a box waiting to move into our new place in just 2 short days Rest assured that the bass was so powerful and effective at removing plaque that I actually skipped my bi annual dental cleaning

There is no doubt this alternative would produce superior results for music but will still lack some of the benefits of discrete surround sound that LTB offers.
