I just got into LPs and am loving them so far. Anyone have any good places to get them for cheap? Used is fine.

Also, any tips for care or table and records?

Thanks!

I don't know if it's the best, but certainly the most fun, is to look out for record fairs. Many dealers will have boxes of lps for under $10.

If you are near NYC, you have to check this out: http://www.wfmu.org/recfair/

It gets packed with collectors of every stripe and there are dozens of dealers. Plus, they usually have live entertainment and beer.

A great source for used vinyl is www.musicstack.com . My buddies and I have almost always found what we were looking for no matter how far out. If you are serious about buying used vinyl a record cleaning machine is almost a necessity. If you buy boxes of vinyl on the cheap they always need cleaning. Even new vinyl sounds better after washing and vacuuming. For record cleaning machines try www.needledoctor.com or www.audioadvisor.com . Needle doctor has all kinds of turntable accessories.

Man those cleaning machines are really expensive. Far more than my preamp and player together. I do clean any used records with a solution and a brush, though. Thanks for the tips.

Ian Masters doesn't recommend using record cleaning fluid unless as a last resort. Cleaning with a dry brush should ordinarily be sufficient to clear of dust between plays.

www.needledoctor.com has Nitty Gritty machines starting at $255. The lower priced machines are manual operation (ie:you apply cleaning fluid and rotate the LP by hand) but do just as good a job as the more expensive automatic ones.
