Sure. She told me to draw up some plans with some estimated costs, and she'll think about it. So I just need some good reasons why we should have a home theater. I'd like to do it in our basement, but its cold, got ugly old wood paneling, and a hideous carpet . I could put it in our living room, but the configuration of the room would really limit what I could do. I can take pictures if you really want to help lol. Maybe I should start my own thread so I don't derail this one further...

Focus on re-sale value of the home and HT being a good "investment". If mom is never moving that may not work. If you have younger siblings still at home you can make the point that a nice HT will keep them at home instead of the dangerous Parkways and Turnpikes of NJ. If you have no younger siblings at home, maybe mom likes to entertain? She could have the destination for old movie night, Oscar night, Super Bowl parties, home movies, etc.

Beyond that I have no ideas, but give me 20 minutes & a few more cocktails and I'm sure something else will come to mind.
