I'm a novice, so I'm posting here. I have a really annoying problem that seems to be actually getting worse.
TV: Sharp 46' Aquos LC-46D43U.
AV Receiver: Onkyo HT-S3100.
PS3 and XBOX360.
Here are my issues:
I watch all my TV streamed through my PC and either the XBOX360 or PS3.
I use component cables to connect the XBOX360 to the receiver since there are no HDMI inputs on the receiver.
I use HDMI out from the PS3 to the TV and optical cable out from the PS3 to the receiver.
The problem first occurred while trying to play MLB the Show on the PS3.
The game would start up, sound would work and then the TV would flicker resolutions and shut itself off with blinking green lights down the bottom.
Having the sound go through the HDMI to the TV fixed this, but I lost the recevier amplification and surround sound.
I wasn't too upset, but now it happens when I'm trying to watch shows streamed from the PC. Same issue, with the receiver on, the TV just shuts itself off and the lights start blinking.
The receiver works fine with the XBOX360, but that doesn't have an optical connection and is only stereo sound.
My questions are:
1) Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?
2) Could it be electrical? Would a good surge protector help? I currently run a budget one.
3) Can anyone imagine why this problem would get worse with time? It worked fine at first, then no gaming, now no streaming TV. The PS3 only works with the TV now if the receiver is off.
Thanks for any input you guys have. I've been trying to figure this out for a couple of weeks now with no luck.
