Hey everyone! I'm looking for some speakers for my computer in the bedroom. I have a Dell XPS M1730 and it is my hub for music, tv, and movies in the bedroom. I'm looking for a two speaker setup (I have surround sound in another room with my tv). I've considered the B&O Beolab 4, the Mirage Omnisats, and the Razer Mako, but I want to know what else is out there. No real criteria other than a price cap of around $1000 (the price of the Beolabs) and no crazy installation (in wall, on the ceiling).

Any ideas? I'm pretty new to this and got kind of frustrated when I found that a lot of manufacturers don't list their prices :(

Bedroom system

There are lots of good speaker options in your price range. You might consider putting together a nice 2.1 system with the following:

Bookshelf speakers $4-600/pair
Small Sub (AV123 X-sub?) $200.
Stereo Amp (Behringer A500?) $1-200.

Look for brands like Paradigm, Klipsch, PSB and Energy at a local dealer or check out some of the ID companies like AV123, Ascend, Axiom and SVS.

Now thats an efficient post... What he said.

There are some manufacturers that make audiophile speakers specifically for computers. I know Axiom does and I remember at least one other manufacturer doing so, I just don't remember who.

Thanks! I will check out the brands you posted. I remember seeing those Axiom speakers a while ago and liked what I saw. The fact that they offer an in-home trial is a perk too.

Some axiom M2 v2 or M3 v2 or the axioms computer speakers and an AV123 x-sub would be a really nice 2.1 system for your computer and it will get well under your budget of $1000 at about half that. I own the M3's and the av123 x-sub and love them both:). However, IMO the best advice to give is to try to audition as many speakers as possible to see what you like and do not like and go from there.
