Looking for recomendations

thank you all for the feedback, I ended up going to several different stores (5 hours in all). I had the chance to hear the Onkyo 876, the Integra 8.9, the Marantz 8002 and ended up buying the Denon 4310. It sounded the best to me, I hope this was the right choice seeing that I did do any research on this receiver.

May I ask you how much you pay for it?

And I just have a gut feeling about what might have please you in it's sound quality. Could it have been the smoothness, the non-fatigue, the relaxed, the neutrality, the well balanced, the great bass, the easy midrange, and the sweet highs, that could have turn you on?
So overall, could it have been the cigar with the glass of Cognac lay back type of aural sound quality that did transport you? You must also remember what was the music recording that you were listening to?

And one last question. What were the speakers connected to it, that you listened to?

In Canada, we always seem to pay more, I guess it's the direct result of being a smaller market, sell less units, charge more per unit to make up the difference. I called around, the lowest price I could get it for was around $1900US + taxes.

When it comes to the receiver, the mid range was very impressive. Very detailed sound, one of the main reason why I got it. The fact that has 6 HDMI connections was also a big selling feature.


I have now connected in the house and the few tracks I played seemed to be more detailed. The network feature works great even though the sound quality is not great; in this case the internet streaming is the bottle neck. Video processing is very good, I have noticed a difference in the video quality.

so far so good, I am still going through the manual, too many options. It can get confusing at times.

That's not bad at all. There's one authorized dealer that currently has it here for $1500 + shipping, but that's a big sale right now. Most everywhere else that I've seen has it for $2000. So, don't feel bad at all!

True, the mids from Denon amps are done right.
* I would have love that you told me the music you were listening to, at the time you finally decided to make your move, and also the speakers you were listening to. Two very very important questions that still remain unanswered.
May I ask you what are your present speakers? And what is the genre of music you like most?

My choices when it comes to music varies greatly, from Cold play to Eagles to R&B. I am using Paradigm Studio speakers 60's) with a 12" sub. The audyssey setup worked well but not perfectly to my liking. I am still in the process of fine tuning it. It has been fun... at times

Two thumbs up for your Paradigm Studio 60s. The 4310 is a very good match for them, no sweat. Your choice of music is another good match; Soft Rock, Folk, and Rhythm&Blues.

Please, don't give up just yet, it's only the beginning of your audio odyssey to sound bliss.
