if anyone finds a seagate 1 TB hard drive for under $99 let me know, newegg.com has one for $99, but I still don't want to spend that much if I don't have to. I don't need the drive yet, but it won't be too long before I do.

#1) Internal or external? If external, do you need eSATA or Firewire, or is USB 2.0 sufficient?

#2) Does it have to be Seagate?

Internal, SATA, and I prefer Seagate due to their 5 year warranty, but it doesn't have to be Seagate. Western Digital is Ok, and I also like Samsung drives.

Most of us don't disapprove of Sony (Their displays are great!); most of us just think Sony's receivers suck. FTR, I doubt you could get an equivalent Onkyo, Harman Kardon, Denon, Pioneer (non-Elite, of course), Marantz, NAD, Rotel or Yamaha for that price. Sherwood hasn't filtered HDMI audio down to their non-Newcastle line. Therefore, Sony is pretty much it in the sub-$400 market.

You might have to wait 2-3 months. Likely Samsung will offer the bare 1TB drive under $99 first.

Nope... I'm wrong. There's one at newegg.com right now (a Seagate) for $99. Grab it now!

The regular price on that drive is $109, so $10 savings isn't all that spectacular, but I went ahead and got it anyway. Hopefully it won't crap out on me, but if it does I'll still have everything backed up on my current drive.
