Hello everyone, this is my first time posting here. I'm looking into buying a new A/V receiver for my entertainment center, and would like some opinions on what I should get from you audio savvy guys on these forums. Here are some guidelines:

I'm trying not to go over $1000, however am willing to in the case of a truly exceptional receiver.

I would like it to be 7.1.
3D capabilities are not wanted.
Only in need of 4 HDMI ports.
I'm going for more power in my receiver than a long list of features. Honestly, my only real uses would be Blu-ray movie watching, a lot of music listening via Ipod, and PC and regular TV watching on DirecTV. I want a receiver that will be able to deliver the best sound and video for my budget, with the ability to handle top end speakers in the event that I spoil myself with some expensive ones(which I plan on doing in the near future).

Components:
Polk CSI20 Center Channel
Polk RTI A1 Fronts
Onkyo surrounds...their specs are 4 - 2-way - External - 50 - 45000 Hz - 8 Ohm - Wired
The subwoofer is also Onkyo, Active subwoofer - External - 290 Watt - 20 - 100 Hz - Wired
Xbox 360
Samsung BD C6500 Blu-Ray player
DirecTV Satellite speaker - not certain on specific specs, but it's the one that has the full HDMI capabilities.

The surrounds and subwoofer came with the Onkyo HT-S9100 HTiB. This was bought about 2 years ago, when I had no knowledge of audio equipment really, although it worked quite well for me. The current receiver is also the one included in the HTiB.

Just ask for any additional information you'd like and I'll more than happily try and supply it. All help will be much appreciated.

Audioholics has just reviewed the Yamaha RX-A3000 which is the same unit as the RX-A2000. Most reviews indicate that these newer Yamahas are a quantem leap over all other units in use. They are capable of upgrading to newer formats so one can forget about being outdated anytime soon. The A2000 is 130 watts/ channel and has best upscalling chip on board. is WIFI, 3D, and 7.2 w 3 zone capable with seperate amp! From time to time I have seen this unit on sale at Newegg with a Newegg $500 gift certificate that could be used for your speaker upgrade!
