Looking for a good parametric EQ

Hey guys

I have tried my old Technics 7 band graphic EQ in my system and I like it. I hooked it up between my receiver and my amp as Buckeye suggested.

The graphic EQ has it's limitations and I think a parametric EQ would give me more flexibility.

Can somebody recommend a good one as I would not know where to start with EQs..thanks so much.

I found that the Velodyne SMS-1 made a world of difference when connecting it to three subwoofers--sure helped my search for audio bliss!!! Being able to adjust phase, gain, placement and furniture and watch the effect in real time on the screen made it sooooooooo easy.

I have been researching a good parametric EQ as well. I have not found any reviews on it but the Rane PE-17 has all of the features I am looking for at a good price. All of the HT specific EQs out there are way too expensive for my taste. The Rane has five bands of fully overlaping frequencies where as most para EQs have non-overlapping bands. This is good to hit multiple low freq problem areas. You can find this EQ for under $400.

Hello,

I'm new to this forum and saw your post while perusing the site. Its been a while since you posted so not sure you'll see my response. Some vintage parametric EQs were made by a high end company called SAE. I have their 1800 model which I've been pleased with though I don't use it much anymore. If you're interested I might be interested in selling. They made a couple of models over the years. I think they made a 2400 as well which was more expensive. Good luck.

I have the behringer dcx 2496. However, I have found it is not an easy piece of equipment to figure out. I don't think it's designed for your average home audio enthusiast. I'm sure if someone showed me how it's used rather than reading the manual (at least 50 times) it would be easier. I've played with it some and can't hear any audio difference.

What do you mean by you can not hear any difference?

It's definately user error or incomptence WmAx. I just haven't had a lot of time to play with it. The manual isn't crystal clear to me and I just flat out don't understand some of the jargon used. I'll pm you to see if we can get it figured out.
