looking for a good 3 channel amp

I am running a Yamaha RX-V1700 and more power for mains and center channels the 1700s 130 watts a side per channel isnt eough for my Paradigm studio 60s mains which can handle at least 200 watts and studio cc690 can handle at least 300 watts can someone recommend a good for around 500.00dollar ranger

Welcome to the forum!

I think that you are going to be looking at used amps to hit that price point while getting the power that you want, which I'm assuming is 200W/channel minimum. I think that Emotiva will come the closest to that for a new unit, with the 200W x 3 XPA-3 costing $624 after shipping (temporarily out of stock). I don't recommend them, though, and I own two of their amps. Others here are really happy with them, however, so I'm mentioning them as an option.

I've read good things about Outlaw Audio and Carver's Cinema Grand line. There seem to be Cinema Grands (which are 200W x 5) on eBay fairly regularly, but I don't know if you'll be able to get one for $500 shipped. There's one that's in that range now, but the bidding is still going. I haven't tracked Outlaw Audio amps all that much, but I'm most familiar with seeing their 200W monoblocks go for sale used for about $225 apiece.

I have looked at the XPA-3 amp and was thinking that maybe would work could you tell me if these are good amps and why you wouldnt recomend this amp

My thoughts on Emotiva are based on my personal experience and the experiences of two members here that I consider friends. There are several people here who have nothing but positive things to say about them, so I give you my thoughts as just another input into your decision.

I have two Emotiva amps. One of them works fine (after being replaced), the other not so much. Long story short - the way the company handled it (by simply ignoring me until I went away) will lead me to never do business with them again or ever recommend them.

I don't think about them much, so I forgot to mention pro amps. There are a number of people here that use them and really like them. They don't have the same aesthetics, but they give good power for the money. If you're interested, look around the forum or ask about them here - I'm sure that people will give you info on them.

Acurus A200x3 should be in that range. I've owned one in the past & it's a great amp. I powered v2 Studio 100's & CC with it. Good combo.

I love my XPA-3. Unfortunately for Adam he seemed to have had a really bad experience, but with all the purchases i have seen the VAST majority of people love emotiva and how they do business. They are usually very hands on and will answer questions any time of the day. Obviously this did not happen with Adam and two other members but this is not the norm, and unfortunately that kind of situation seems to be the case with most companies. But anyway the XPA-3 is a great amp lol.
