Looking At A New Samsung TV

My 9yo Samsung 52" LCD TV is on is starting to have problems (a loud fan) so rather than put $150-200 into an old but still beautiful TV I'm thinking about just buying a new TV. So far the best pictures that I've seen was on the Samsclub version of Samsung's UM65MU8000 and the standard version of Samsung's UM65MU9000. I really like the crispness of their pictures but I hate the stand on the 8000. I really like the stand on the 9000 but not $400 worth. Since I've only seen the pumped display mode I'm looking for feedback from anybody that owns one. Have they been reliable? Is the picture and improved contrast on the 9000 worth the extra money?

I changed my mind. I'm in a small town and everything is at least an hour drive from here so I decided to dedicate the day to comparing 55 and 65 inch TVs at both Best Buy and Sam's Club. Viewing an LG OLED side by side with Samsung's QLEDs the Samsung just didn't hold a candle to the LG. Bottom line I blew up my budget and now have an LG OLED65B7P 65" OLED on it's way from Sam's Club.

I don't really have room so my next projects are finding a stand and making room before it gets here in about 10 or 11 days. Figuring out the stand is going to be a bear because both my Song Center center channel speaker and my Onkyo receiver are freaking huge, way to big for the shelves on most stands. Right now the leading candidate is this one from Amazon.

The family room is a bit of an AV nightmare that requires that the TV and speakers go in an 8ft wide alcove with a window behind the TV. I'll probably eventually wall mount it in the living room but when that time comes it will require replacing a couple of thousand dollars in like-new furniture to make it work.

Awesome OLED, that is a cool factor there! Your gonna love it. I originally was gonna get the LG 55B7A but found an insane deal on the Sony 55X900E. I couldn't justify the 600 dollar difference. I am super happy but OLED definitely would have been cool. Enjoy man!

Well I've found the stand for my TV and AV gear, a Better Homes & Gardens Mercer. It matches my room closely enough. And. while it's no fashion statement (I'm 100% knuckle dragger), with its 10" distance between shelves it has all of the room that I need for a large center and a huge receiver, and it's built like a tank.

Better Homes and Gardens Mercer 3-in-1 TV Stand.

Hey Sholling,

I bought this for $299Cdn taxes in for Boxing Day a few years back. Accommodates most flat panel TVs up to 72 inches and 150lb. Zline's instructuon manuals are top notch.

Thanks for the reply! That's a great looking stand but I already have the Better Homes stand. I really do like the look though.
