I have about 3000 to 4500 to spend on new system.I listen to music/movies about 50/50.My room is about 15x25.I need a new receiver,speakeras and possibly a sub.I was looking towards polk lsi's,but am open for suggestions,maybe even some 8 ohm speakers that can be driven by a decent a/v receiver.

Ascend Acoustics CMT-340 SE's all around (5.1 or 7.1 it's up to you)
SVS Subwoofer (the best one you can get with the funds you have left)

These are internet direct speakers but go to AV123.com and see if someone close to you has them.

Mains: Rocket RS760 $1500

Receiver: YAMAHA RX-V1600 $1000

Well, if I had the money, that is what would be on the top of my list of speakers to audition. Plus the rosewood on those rockets looks killer!

I suggest going out and listening to speakers locally. Take note on which brand and model they are, and report back with your findings.

This way, members with the right experience can recommed speakers from Internet Direct speakers that may sound the same, but cost half the price.

I am in Southwest Florida.I like the sound of Polk lsi's and I also liked Martin Logan Clarity's(entry level but sounded good to me).I hear that the Onix Rockets use the same tweeter that is in the Polk lsi's.Has anyone heard them?They are 8 ohms instead of the Polk's which are 4, so they would be easier to drive.

Trouble with going out and around locally to listen to speakers is some of the best bang for the buck systems are internet only.

Axiom is an extremely good value way to go and the company has the best customer service I've ever seen with any company.

I finally finished my system (speakers only)...

I got these for speakers...

B&W 603's FRONT
B&W 603's REAR
B&W LCR600 CENTER
B&W ASW1000

I have an old Pioneer Elite Receiver (Pro-Logic) which I will be using as a power source, and am going to build a Media Center PC for my Pre-Amp, DVD Player, CD Player, MP3 Player and TV-DVR. The Center will cost me around 600-$700 and will easily beat the pants off of most top end equipment.

The quality of computer sound has far surpassed that of very expensive AV receivers, and CD Players. Only thing I would recommend Differently is to buy a NON B&W sub.

Thats another thing... Dont mix and match speakers. Keep them to one manufacturer if possible. This will save you problems with efficency, and matching sound.
