I have this Logitec Z560 system that I want to integrate some how. I don't know that I can utilize the sats much but I would like to use the sub if possible. It is a 188W RMS 8" (im pretty sure) self powered unit. The control unit you see in the picture is what plugs into the sub to connect it to the computer. It uses the same 9-pin connection as seen here (i actually have a spare one of these cables also)

How can I connect this to my receiver? Now this gets into the "1 sub vs 2" debate but I figure since I have it laying around I may as well use it somehow. Any thoughts on how else to utilize it will be welcome (possibly in the dining room?)

Thanks.

I haven't found the manual for that, yet, but here's my guess on how you'd connect it to your receiver.

  • Connect the receiver to the control unit using an RCA-to-minijack cable like this one here. Plug the RCA end into the subwoofer output on the receiver and the minijack input into the "center/sub" jack on the control unit. One of the RCA connectors would be for the center channel, the other for the sub - so if one doesn't give you sound on the sub, then plug the other one into the sub output on your receiver.
  • Set the volume on the control unit just like you would use the volume (gain) control on a powered subwoofer.
