Lockheed Martin’s Multiple Kill Vehicle!!!

its either a spoof or a video game. Its too noisey and too easy to shoot down, plus it can't carry any serious armorment. I am pretty familiar with Lockheed Martin military equipment as I've been in the defense industry and this doesn't seem like something they would do. Besides, for missle defense, do you really want to rely on something at 23ft off the ground to destroy a missle before it hits the ground?

Update:
hmm I guess I stand corrected, seems strange to me though:

Who says it is supposed to carry any armament? Staying that stable it could track multiple warheads for a ground based or air based laser defense system quite easily. Especially if at the altitude of warhead deployment.

Yeah, it acts so alive, I actually feel mad when they kick it. I'm thinking, "you bastards, leave it alone." I know it's a machine, but I can't help thinking that...
I thought the same thing. I felt bad for it when it slipped on the ice too. :(

lmao! I thought the same thing when I saw this a while back.

A collegemate of mine was showing me these in our senior design class. The same group of guys also made another autonomous thing like this, too, iirc.

But, I'm with you... I was pissed that they were trying to hurt it. It's like a lamb without a head. Poor thing.

Seriously, I have no life.
I got to see and hear the "goalkeeper" a few times when I was in Baghdad on Victory Base Complex.

Aircraft carries and other Navy ships have the same Gatling guns for close in defense. Awesome weapon and very accurate and deadly.
But, it is not against ICBMs:D

Everyone should be allowed to own one of these beauties for home defense.
Yeah, a minigun would be sweet, but they are not much of a deterrent unless someone is sitting outside manning it. Plunk a Phalanx on your front lawn, and people are autonomously tracked by a big gattling gun - see how many people let their dogs pee on your bushes after that. :D

My understanding is that no one on a ship wants to hear one of those badboys go off in battle because they are the last ditch defense. I don't think that anything would normally get in that close, except for small boats at a port - and I doubt that the U.S. will allow anything like the Cole to happen again if they can help it.

Wohoooooow... don't think you will be susceptible to any breakins
well, anyone trying on your house now would be fairly stupid :p

How many rounds/seconds from this guy. I could quite easily cover my house with one of these from the hallway at the 2nd floor :D

It does look cruel, but it's necessary for testing purposes. These units could carry supplies or wounded to and from the battlefield. You want to ensure they can handle any obstacle in their path. I'm still so impressed with the reaction times and counter measures it can take to cope with it's environment.

Totally agree.

Once they can walk my dog and make me a chicken pot pie, I'll place my order.
