List of closed back In-Walls

Gunna start researching inwalls for my bedroom....

I would like a list of Closed Back choices... Looking for SQ and good imaging.

I haven't really set a price yet, but could be ok with $2500 for 5.1

Even if they are not closed-back speakers you could always install Sound Enclosures for the speakers to be mounted in.

I figured I would just avoid any said audio loss and resonating problems right from the get go.. hense the already sealed from the factory...

I would think that those would take up to much space in the wall where a speaker designed already with an enclosure built in would have far better SQ.

My Webshots link has photos of my sound enclosures installed before I installed my in-ceiling speaker.

Look into the Stagefront brand from Niles. They come fully enclosed and and are excellent performers.

Edit: Sonance makes great speakers but the ones with enclosures will be quite out of your budget. Not to mention would take a lot of effort for a retro install.

Speaking of closed backs. Would it be beneficial to build an enclosure for my in-ceilings? They are just there in the attic with about 15 feet of room between them and the roof.

It really depends. I would contact Sonance (I think thats the surround brand you have) and see what they say about box recommendations if they recommend one at all. Also, when I am in town over break I can bring a tool of mine that will calculate T/S parameters from a driver so we can see how they model in various enclosures, if you like. Do realize if we want to measure the drivers they will need to be removed from the ceiling and connected to my computer.

The box wouldn't be too hard to build, but it would be important to know the internal volume before bracing they only give 0.62 cubic feet as a volume, but don't say if that is pre or post bracing.

In the end I wouldn't really worry too much about it unless you are into multi-channel music and if you are go buy some Studio 100s and stick the 40s in the back for surround duty .

In reality though surrounds just aren't that important they just produce ambient effects.

Hey no worries guys.... Glad to provide a venue to chit chat...

At any rate... seems that I am looking more and more at the IWCB-626 offerings from Atlantic Technology... The more I read about them, I think they will fit the bill for my bedroom system... I know that In-Walls, unless done right can be a compromise, especially with the thoughts of hacking my walls to accomodate, theres no going back.


I wanted to try a clean un-obtrusive look for my small room, but didn't want to give up the SQ... I hope Im not making a mistake in that thought...

Bedroom is 1700^3 and I will be mounting the Plasma up high on the wall opposite of the bed.. therefore I will have the oppertunity to put in-walls (3 vertical LCR speakers perfectly at ear level while sitting in bed.

I wanted to find something that would have a good LF response so crossover to sub wouldn't be compromised.. with the SVS-Plus..

I have tried to gain interest in Triad, but the prices seem to be just silly to me.

Anyone that has dealings with Atlantic's products, I would love to hear from them...
