I love Linus' candid examination of hardware. It's a computer centric channel but they look at various consumer devices. In this video he explores the Aqvox Switch SE which purports to be an audiophile network switch. Basically it's a $30 D-Link switch with a few "upgraded" components selling for 800 Euro. Glad to see such a popular channel helping to spread some reality.

The bane of many youtubers videos is an obnoxious presentation, especially obnoxious voices....but I guess it sells?
They seem to think so, but for example, the Primitive Technology guy doesn't speak at all.

Nobody bothered to tell them that what passes through a router is digital data, not music. I got a chuckle from it.

While I generally agree with Linus, I'm not a fan of his over-the-top presentation style. I guess it works for him to keep the general audience engaged, but it is just not for me. I like this german IT youtube channel:
I don't watch all of his vids so I find the occasional one tolerable. :) He has other team members present as well and they are usually a little more matter of fact in their presentations. I think you need to inject some personality into productions to obtain the viewership numbers that he has.

@Eppie, I know it's apples to oranges, but I do see conflicting evidence on the need for YT personality (aka crappy acting). Linus has 14mil subs, while ZERO talking Primitive Tech has around 10mil subs.

OTOH at least this guy realizes how digital and/or audio generally works, unlike many of the other youtubers.
