Hey everyone. Just looking to see if there are any proud Lexicon RV-5 receiver owners out there that can discusss findings or tips to maximize the output from this 53 pound behemoth. After owning a DC-2 for so many years and having it finally pried out of my hands due to obsoletion, I bit the bullet and got an HDMI capable shiny new Lex. Anyone have one? Come on in, stay a while.

This is 7 years later I know but I purchased one of these Lexicon RV-5 receivers and the H&K AVR 745 that many on the web said the Lexicon was re-branded from and I was able to debunk the idea that they were the same thing by taking a close look at each internals. Just to name a few differences I personally could see: The lexicon has several more circuit boards and has all superior Caps and Power supply's. The sound between them was not even close and my wife in a blind listen test was able to tell the difference. The Lexicon is more airy and detailed and less harsh. I have picture of both units side by side and the receipts for both. I love my Lexicon RV-5 and it has a respectable DAC and Amplifier. I found that using the USB input and connecting a HT dedicated laptop to it was the way to get the best sound out of it. The RV-5 install and becomes the sound card for the computer and the quality DAC gets the unaltered data to process into the beautiful sound all in the same enclosure. It is very good sound for the money this way.

Hi Eric (or anyone who can answer this please):

I am planning to get a Lexicon MC-4 (or 8 or 12) in order to upmix 2 channel Tidal streaming audio to 5.1 (plus TV watching).

I have a Naim NAC 272 streamer/DAC/preamp, Naim 150x power amp (with only 2 speaker outputs) and Naim Ariva speakers and a 1 year old Samsung smart TV.

1. I want to use the Naim amps to power the front 2 speakers. Will that work ok, and how would I wire that up? Do I feed the signals from the MC-4 via the pre-amp outputs to the Naim 272?

2. Will the MC-4 power the other speakers in a way that will coordinate ok with the Naim system for music and TV sound reproduction?

thanks
Jim
