Found out about the show when i encountered a link to the campaign for it to have a 3rd season (apparently cancelled due to a too high of a budget per episode [good thing in my book])

IMO, any one of the episodes put to shame some b-movie wannabes.

If you're a fan of the genre, it's a must watch.

i miss Cara (one of the characters) already. [almost equal to how much i miss 7 of 9]

If you liked the show be sure to check out the books. They're still my favorite even though they dip in quality in the middle of the series. They're the only series I own all of in hard cover.

Sadly though when I tried to get into the miniseries all I could think of was the inaccuracies and it ruined it for me (mostly less gruesome and offensive, ie changing the wording of the first rule, Rahl reading entrails of his living victims, how Darken travels to the underworld, his missing facial burn scar, and etc). It starts out fairly accurate but becomes just so loose later on that I couldn't take it.

Once you get past some of the cheesy-ness though it's definitely worth a watch.

So does the cheesy stuff stop after like the 2nd or 3rd episode? I watched through the third episode and couldn't do it anymore, it was too much cheese.

Funny that you mention this, I just happened to catch some of one episode last Sunday. I wasn't really paying attention to it and I had no idea what was going on, but it looked pretty dopey to me. The wizard guy, (who happened to be the pilot guy from the Mad Max movies :D), had cast some spell of undoing and everything in the kindgom got messed up. Sorry, but I couldn't really see myself watching the show.

From what I understand the cheese lets up around mid-way of season one. I couldn't make it past the first couple because of my issues with inaccuracies vs the books. (Which btw, are a lot less cheese and seem to be a lot darker compared to the show)

Wow, I was just reading the synopsis on Wikipedia and all I can say is the show diverges from the books in so many ways it isn't funny. This makes me sad because I was so amped up for a miniseries - of the books - for so long. Goodkind was so assertive in the fact that they were going to remain true to them and the characters.

Goodkind released a message to his readers on his official website prior to the show's production saying:
“ No series (or mini-series, or feature film) can follow the underlying book exactly. Sam Raimi and his team want to keep the TV series true to my vision, so rest assured that I am going to be intimately involved in the writing of each of the episodes. If you love the book just the way it is, then enjoy the book for what it is and come to the TV series prepared to enjoy the show for what it is. ”

However, after production started Goodkind released another press statement in response to questions posed to him by fans:
“ I want you all to understand that ABC studios chose not to consult me on actors, scripts, or any other aspect of the show. I have had no input whatsoever on the TV series, so I am the wrong person to write to or complain about the show. If you wish to make comments, positive or negative, please direct them to Disney/ABC. For my part, I trust in Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert to at some point be able to exert their immense creative talent and do a great job at bringing to life the characters we all love.
The ball wasn't dropped, it was thrown over the fence.

Edit: I'm not saying that the direction they took is bad, just that this is nothing like the books after after episode 1 or 2. (Even 1&2 aren't accurate at all, but close) If you even remotely liked episode 1 or 2 then read the books.

i don't have the time to read books, i'm the watch and relax type of person :)

and even if i did, i'm the forgiving type where i don't need the movie/series to be exactly like the books.

it's a good movie to make though :)

i'm just saying, if anybody watched Xena, Hercules ... i'd say this was lightyears better than those two.

I love Sci-Fi.

So I watched the first episode, and I couldn't take it anymore.

Way too much cheese.:D

But hey, I have good news.

I watched the Vampire Diaries Season 1 BD and loved it.:D:D

Okay, I take it back.

I'll have to get it on BD and give it another chance.:D:D

Oh crap, I just checked Blockbuster, and they only have DVD versions - no BD versions yet. Bummer. It will have to wait.

I think you need to change your name to "AcuDefTech12YearOldGirl" :p

I watched a few episodes of that show and couldn't take it. WAY too Twilight for me, and I like Vampire stories.

What?

"Twilight" is sissy, but "Vampire Diaries" is not sissy!:p

Although the setting in "Vampire Diaries" is high-school, the girls on this show are more like college babes! Big difference!!!:D

The "Vampire Diaries" story is much better than any of those ridiculous, boring, girly "Twilight" movies!:p
