Homage' to the collective wisdom:
I auditioned the Legacy Audio Signature III's ($4k) and the Focus 20/20's ($6k) this weekend. Both wonderful speakers. Depth, clarity and soundstage were startling... Bass performance such that a subwoofer is not only not needed, it may be a step back. Amazing. As far as I can tell the Focus 20/20 is basically more, bigger, better than the Sig III.

My questions are two-fold:
Has anyone had any experience with Legacy as an organization i.e. good/bad to deal with?
Properly driven, will I have too much speaker with the Focus 20/20? I have a relatively small listening room (18 x 15).

I would also be greatful for any comment on the downward firing woofer in the Sig III's.

Information that will aid in my understanding of these speakers would be greatly appreciated.

They have been around for a while. I have seen good reports from people who has speakers from the company, including the company.

Not to worry about down firing subs.

That is a small room but it will give you a great sound and your receiver does have volume controls on it:D

None unless the space between the carpet and sub is too small. I would aim for about 3" minimum?

ctwed, you should exchange notes with DUP on the Stereophile site. He is quite knowledgeable about Legacy products. He has a pair of Legacy Whispers. If you can get past his constant pushing of AVA electronics you may get some information.:D

i own a pair of Focus 20/20 as mains and Sig 3s as surr also got Mist as sbs and the Marquis as ctr ch. They're in an 18 x 23 x 9 carpeted room and it sounds awesome. I run Audio Control Maestro 2 pre + AC Pantages/Avalon amps. Customer service was great, they were helpful in showing me their line of speakers. I got them thru Legacy's dealer/showroom in NJ. The sigs are placed on blocks 8" high so the downfiring sub is tight. I also got an AC Diva acoustic processor, so i got these babies tuned to my liking, bass control and standing waves were a concern but was corrected none the less with the Diva. Hope this post helps?
