I know this is an audio forum but i figured someone would most likely know the answer, thanks in advance.
Can I use a dell laptop charger that is rated at an output of 19.5 Volts to charge my hp laptop that has an input voltage of 19 V max?

thanks

I wouldn't. Technically, it may work but if the HP works now and you don't want any chance of damaging it, get the right charger.

there are tons of discounted sellers on ebay, just plug in your lappy model number and search chargers....

No.

For whatever reason the HP chargers have some technology built in which makes no sense to me at all.

I personally own a Dell (personal) and a HP (work) and they have identical charger power ratings. Yet, when I plug my Dell charger into my HP laptop, the HP laptop says that the charger is not compatible.

ON THE OTHER HAND!

When I plug my HP charger into my Dell, the Dell immediately recognizes the charger as providing the exact voltage it is supposed to and charges exactly as it is supposed to.

Every HP product I have owned has given me headaches, and moving forward I am sticking with Dell for exactly this type of crap.
