Fedex guy visited an hour ago. Just plugged in my Energy RC-10s for my computer. The Energy C-100 are going back in the box.

MUCH more refined (can hear the symbals clearly) and the bottom end goes a little deeper (better kick drums and bass notes). Another thing is that I didn't look first but the cabinets are deeper. Caused some problems cuz they come a little closer to the face, almost too close. I'll try the port plugs later (cuz my computer setup is in the corner of a room (V-shaped desk).

Ordered from audioadvisor. Demo version. They are quite dirty but I think I'll be able to wash them with a wet cloth to bring back this beautiful rosenut finish to new. No scratches at all except for the hole where you put the screw in for the surrounds (must've been tried by someone for surrounds). But all this is in the back. No biggie.

Guess what now... Murphy's law. I just paid 50 more bucks to fedex cuz they have been held at the border So it brings the final total to 415 CAD$. Still very good price for that pair. Now I just have to put the grills on (but they look too nice to hide them :p)

So now my whole house is made out of rosenut RCs! Awesome.

What should I do with those C-100?! Is 150$ a good price for the in-law? I paid 250$ plus taxes new.

Pictures to come.

I am curious how do the Energy RC-10s compare to ...

Cambridge Audio S30 speakers ??

From what I have read the RC-10s are very good!

Never heard of CA speakers. Furthermore, the S30 is a much smaller speaker (smaller driver, less "bass-reflex amplification" so I wonder what effect there would be on sound as my computer system is 2ch only (no subs). I know the gear is very good though. My in-law owns an Azur integrated and a CD player.

RC-10's strenght is the bass/mid-bass/mids. It goes down pretty deep for a bookshelf of this size and have a good excursion. Those speakers are the perfect pair for a rock/metal music listener as me because they are laid back, not in your face, yet very detailed. The rosenut finish is of high quality and the grills sticks with 6 "powerful" magnets. I'm sold to energy since day 1, so I couldn't be happyer. I was ready to say I had nothing more in the upgrade path but the XPA-5 is getting closer and would love some more juice for my RC-70s for kicks (as I will have no use of a 200w*5ch in an apt).

Another company I was considering is Monitor Audio but I never saw this company while shopping for speakers.

One of the thing I love about my S30s is the extreme degree to which they belie their size. Whenever I happen to glance at them with the sound off and think "bigger might be better", all I have to do is fire them up, and then I think "Oh yeah, now I remember!" This is especially true with bass-heavy music (try something like Goldfrapp or Supreme Beings of Leisure on them if you want to be utterly amazed.)

Wow... SNL season 1. That is seriously old lol. No wonder I don't know that skit!
I was 14 at the time (1976). I remembered it because I am re-watching the series as they release each season on a DVD set. Season 3 comes out May 13.
