While I do not own this sub, I remember the first time I heard it. A few years back I heard the thing from across the store and immediately ran over to find the Klipsch RSW-12 pounding away. I loved it! I wouldn't hesitate to pick it up if you can get a deal.

I have one it so awsome, you can really feel it, and it rattles everything in the house all the way to the rooms on the other side of the house, and the outside also, I had to use finishing nails on the outside to keep it from rattling, I bought mine for 600.00 bucks, what kind of a deal are you getting.....

After reading the posts in this thread, let me add a clarrifying point. Klipsch has a variety of different lines of speakers. Their cheapest (in cost) is the Synergy line. These are the ones found in stores like Best Buy. I have a 7.1 set of this line including the 10-inch and 12-inch KSW subwoofers. Last year, I was in the market for a new set of speakers to place in my home theater. I listened to a variety of different speaker lines from different companies in price ranges that I could afford (around $3500 max for the 7.1 system). When I listened to the Klipsch Reference IV series of speakers, I was "blown away" by how good these speakers sound as compared to the other speakers I auditioned. Also, the Reference IV speakers sound phenomenally better than my Synergy line that I have in my living room. I got a great deal when I bought these Reference IV speakers which included the RW-12 Klipsch subwoofer. This subwoofer produces excellent base without being "boomy." The RSW subwoofer is suppose to be even better than the RW subwoofer. When I was auditioning speakers, I also listened to the new RT series of Klipsch subwoofers which sounded simply amazing. I just wished I could have afforded one of these models. However that being said, I am extremely happy with my RW-12 and would strongly recommend getting the RSW if you indeed can get it at the price you mentioned.

Finally, most of the posts you read concerning the rather poor quality of sound produced by Klipsch speakers are probably referring to the Synergy line, not the Reference IV nor the THX Ultra2 lines. Once again, there is a world of difference in the sound quality of the Synergy line versus their more expensive lines. I hope this helps.
