Klipsch RF-3 System vs Synergy F-2 System

Hello all. I currently have The klipsch F-2 Synergy 5.1 system with a cheap 12" sony sub running off of a NAD T-763 receiver. I am using a Blu-Ray player with 5.1 audio analog outs to get the true HD sound. Question I have is that on my local craigslist there is the Klipsch Reference RF-3 5.1 system complete with mains, center, surrounds and sub for 500$. I paid 450$ for my F-2 set-up and could probably trade the systems even or get him to come down on the 500$ price and sell mine or keep them either way. So basically what I am saying is, is it worth it to get the RF-3 lineup? I have never heard them, but have read that they are a better speaker than the F-2 line plus the mains are 8" instead of 6.5" and all the others are 6.5"s instead of 4.25" speakers. Will I notice enough difference to make this purchase worth it or should I just hang on to what I have and wait to upgrade for a while. I know the RF-3s are older, but my experience with Klipsch tells me that the older stuff is most of the time better than the newer cheap stuff. Let me know what you think and I might make a purchase or not haha. Thanks.

You're going to dislike this answer, but here I go anyway: Only you can answer your question. The specs and measurements will be a helpful tool in aiding you, but you really need to hear them for yourself to make a fully informed decision. My preference may be the complete opposite of yours, so I don't recommend listening to someone else's opinion on this one, as it's just subjective (many things are at play here, such as bias, personal tastes and the listening room).

Do you think you'd be able to sell the RF-3's for what you paid if you don't like them? If so then buy them and compare them to your RF-2's; it's the only way to be sure.

If on your local craiglist, then go listen - and take some of your
material to play. I am not a Klipsch fan - however, I much prefer
the Reference series, over the entry level Synergy series.

Nuance AH -Thanks for your response. I know audio is subjective and different to everyones ears, just thought I would ask anyway. I am not sure if I could get the same for what I pay for them or not. On ebay they go for way more it seems, but I am not 100% sure if they are the same condition and all that. Just looking for a little advice haha. Thanks again.

zieglj01 - That would be the best bet, but it is 100 miles and I don't believe they are hooked up. I will speak with the guy and get all the model #s and everything. I don't know if I am going to upgrade yet anyway or not. I was planning on waiting and starting from the ground up when I get my own house with my theater room. Also should probably save money up for the new truck I want to buy. Apparently 2 trucks a car and a polaris rzr is a little expensive to keep up on haha.
