Klipsch RC-25

i am looking to buy a new center channel speaker because my current center channel is horrible, mainly cuz i have 4 towers and they over power my center.
i did make a few changes on my reciver but it still does not help that much.
i would like to stick to polk but i can t find any decent ones in my price range.

i met a guy who has a Klipsch RC-25 in excellent condition and he will sell it to me for 125 CAD. my main question IS WILL IT MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE THAT MY CENTER IS Klipsch RC-25 AND MY TOWERS ARE POLK?

Can you try it out first? Its been my experience that pairing different centers with Klipsch towers isnt the end of the world, but when putting a klipsch center in a different setup makes it incredibly "localized". Thats the best way I can describe it when playing with it. The front stage lost some depth and imaging in some scenes. The way the speakers are designed is a lot different. I personally wouldn't like it in my own home, and wouldnt recommend it.

yeah that would be a problem, i can only test it out at his place which is in waterloo and is about a hour away from where i live.

but this klipsch is powerful for a center and i think that my 4 polk monitor 70's are pretty powerful as well. will that help out a lil?

Skip the Klipsch and pick up a matching Polk center. For a seamless front stage you want your fronts and center to be tone matched.

Out of curiosity, have you level matched your current center to the rest of your sytem?

I have the RF 3 II and put in a RC 3.5 and did not notice much of a difference. They are of the same make but not exactly matched as far as I was able to tell. Sounds great though I do notice during broadcast TV that the center can be dominating at times.

Buying the Klipsch should sound better then what you have. It should get you through until you decide to get new speakers down the road. Trust me, 1,2, or 3 years from now you will definitely want new speakers. It's just natural to desire a change. I'd get it.
