When I was in my mid-twenties (no dinosaur jokes please ;)) I was seriously impressed with my first audiophile roommate's nearly $2,600/pr ($7,400/pr in today's money) concert-hall ready 1st generation Klipsch La Scala speakers. While they weren't all that impressive at low volumes (little bass) in a small living room I remember thinking that they were absolutely breathtaking at near-ear-bleed levels.

I haven't heard the second generation speakers but love Klipsch or hate Klipsch they are worth a listen at your local dealer now that Adorama has them for almost 30% off.

Apologies but I could only make the prices work by using a link to SlickDeals: https://slickdeals.net/f/12962266-klipsch-heritage-speakers-singles-cornwall-iii-1300-la-scala-ii-2200-or-klipschorn-3300-free-s-h?src=frontpage

Edited for clarity.
