Kilz2 screen is active...next step for me?

I thought Behr was just an interior flat paint like shermin williams, no?
I am researching pull down screens as that is my budget it seems as I try these simple, cheap DIY methods.
I don't know his credentials but he is well respected on 'another' board and has many in-depth color analysis presentations, graphs, charts, pictures and write-ups. He could be full of it, but he seems sold and so do many on the board who have done it. Granted they for the most part 'may' not know what a really good commercial screen can do?

Make sense? So Behr silver screen is a mix right?

Thanks for the help!
The point being that the Behr Silver Screen is a paint color formulated for projectors. These paints aren't really made for painting your wall a silver color for the sake of color. They are formulated for projection.

Post his thread here so we can take a look. It's not like we care that you frequent other boards. So do we.

I have heard really good things about the Behr Silver Screen and even better about Screen Goo.

Yes, Behr SS is a mix. Have the paint store look it up and mix you a quart. Make sure to lay down a layer titanium white primer first so you don't waste your screen paint.

I used a material called "Do-Able Board" from Home Depot to make my screen. I have a Mitsubishi HD1000 which is virtually the same projector you have. I have had great results. You can see pictures in my signature. The board cost $15. Search for "Doable diy screen" on AVS forums and you find quite a few results.

You won't get vibrant colors with ambient light hitting the screen. In a dark room I get an amazing picture.

jinjuku...so are these. They are not premade colors. This is from another board, can I link that here?

Hi Ho....I'll look into that, thanks. I presume it is a flat white...or is it a more reflective laminate surface?

It hast a matte finish. Glossy surfaces are generally undesirable as a projection screen as they usually produce hot spotting.

4.lens-12"
bottom of screen-28"
middle of screen-54"
Screen is edged temporarily with 2" 3M duct tape.
Why do some insist on keystoning?

If I read you correctly, there is a 29" offset between the lens centerline and the middle of the screen. There's your problem with lack of sharpness (per your post: "1. Menu lettering is awefully not sharp, but sharpness control does 'nothing' for this."). This problem is further accentuated by the HD1500's large throw offset.

Finally, you have not mentioned if you have the bulb in regular or economy mode. Given your conditions, economy does not seem to be an option.

It is not keystoned. The Mitsu HC1500 has a big natural offset. It is laid flat and not keystoned at all.
I use 'Low' mode at night because it is pitch black, but 'standard' during the daylight.

Yep, you can link to other boards, just use the link tool (globe with chain link). I am always interested in reading other perspectives on paint. Even though I have done a ton of research, there is always something else to learn.

Having said the above, I have uniformly read that the Behr SS is the way to go if you need to pinch pennies. I know that we are going the Screen Goo route for both mine and my business partners Home Theater. There is something to be said for just doing a tried and true method and not screwing around with it. You are only going to enjoy it for the next 10-15 years  You see my point? No use in getting a Porsche so you can put a $100 set of tires on it.

I understand, but I did buy a Volkswagen basically though...not a porsche.
I'll buy a good 1080P within a year.

I don't know that I'd classify the 1500 as a VW. It's a pretty good projector...within parameters.

Anyhow, I see you just entered to win the $ off a new screen...I think you'll be pleasantly surprised whenever you get one. Finally, if you're truly going to throw away your 1500 "within a year", you're my new best friend.;)

Not throw away, just upgrade to a 1080P. That's part of the reason I feel I should maybe wait on a screen(unless I can get $200 off) until then, as I don't want to have to buy a different one for the 1080p unit and don't want to be limited on choices by my existing screen?

Then don't purchase a screen. Paint a screen. Use Screen Goo. You really are making it hard to help you

Honestly, we aren't trying to burn you here. If your new projector in the future requires a 'different' projection surface, re-paint.

And in that vein...

You wrote "sanded walls." Not to be a simpleton, but that means two different things in the trades:
1) sanded flat to a nice uniform texture; and,
2) sanded ("textured") with textured paint. I'm assuming you meant the former, as the latter would produce some horrific results for a screen.

Yup, sanded flat.(although I will be resanding and re-priming before the grey screen as I see a little bit of artifacts from some not perfect spots under the primer)

Here is an issue I could 'really' use help with....my whole image has a flicker/pulse like an old film reel to reel projector?? I called customer support and he said that it is either one of the hdmi cords or my yamaha receiver causing the issue, but everything worked perfectly for 11 months with my RPTV 1080P DLP?
**This is not the frame stop you get from switching sources at first but a constant flicker.
I switched the hdmi's and same issue. So what else should I do before having to ship back the projector as faulty?
Thanks!

Well, it has either gone away or just has not been seen since then.

On another topic, I got my TV Winter Mist(N9) up and it made all the difference in the world.(along with turning brightness down a bunch due to avia calibration)

Glad to hear the paint made the difference. Now you have to wonder how much better it would look with Screen Goo...lol:p

I have resided myself to this(unless I win one of the random Carada discounts) until I buy a 1080P projector. I'm sure a screen 'could' look better, but the lack of being able to demo them makes it difficult.(other than tiny patches)

I hear it is tough to afford all the stuff that you "really" need.
