So today my friend showed me his Kicker L7 and damn that thing hits hard. He has a 2007 Honda Accord with stock stereo and stock speakers so the L7 drowns out all the upper frequencies so my question to you guys is how would he fix that? Would he need to buy higher output speakers or could he just buy 2 10" subs or 1 12" sub to have an even transfer in frequencies from the stock speakers to the 15" monster?

I would never put a aftermarket sub in with stock speakers. It will sound like doo doo! The sub might hit hard but I bet you cant hear the words! A fix for that is to get aftermarket speakers, aftermarket deck with a sub pre out (pioneer premier or alpine) and some decent amps. That is if you want it to sound decent. Dont waste your time trying to wire the garbage factory stuff cause it just aint gonna sound good, and you might blow them anyways.

An after market sub with stock speakers would create a total imbalance as the stock speakers i doubt however good would be able to keep up.

Kickers subs are known for getting really loud with high spl. But thyre also known not to have the best sound quality subwoofers. If your looking for a mix of SQ and decent SPL i suggest you look at other subs like JL, Image Dynamics, Alpine Type R,X, Elemental Designs etc.

Depends on your budget too though.

I'm guessing that the stock speakers are not amped, and are running at full range? At minium I would get a amp for the main speakers, then use the internal crossover to block out the low frequencies. If it still sounds like crap, replace the main speakers. This will sound quite a bit better.
