Hey, RJ. I have two and am quite happy with them. I wouldn't say that I'm a coffee connoisseur, though.

I put up a thread here about a recent deal (since expired), but it contains some info on them. I also have a video review on Amazon for the Breville unit that shows both the Breville and the Keurig B70, and it might give you some insight on them.

I'm happy to answer any questions that you have on them.

We use these at my Dealership. Pretty decent. I have the breakfast tea every morning.

Thanks, Adam. I'll take a look at that Breville unit.

I have a mill, a couple of drip coffee-makers, a press, an espresso machine...but nothing convenient to grabbing a quickie for the road (no cheap jokes allowed). That's why I was thinking this thing was useful...it's fast. But I surely don't want one if they only make colored water. (That's what they make tea for. ;)) I like my coffee to be a tad on the rich side and not watery. That weak coffee possibility is what worries me about the Keurig.

I have one at home, its pretty cool. I'm not much of a coffee drinker though. DON'T get the K-cup hot chocolate. They're terrible lol.

OMG x2. We tried them, and they sucked.

Here is what you should do instead. Mix a K-cup Hazelnut with normal hot chocolate packets. Amazing.

I use the extra bold K-Cups and normally make one of the smaller cup sizes. That's strong enough for me. My parents like weaker coffee and go with a regular K-Cup on the largest cup size.

The Breville is a nice unit. In my review, I compare it to the B70 that is less expensive. Functionally, they are equivalent. The Breville comes with a My K-Cup and water filter, both of which would cost about $25-$30 total to get separately for the B70. So, you can save a bit of money by going with the B70 (especially if you don't want those extras), but you have the option of going with the different aesthetics on the Breville.

We have something similar at the office called a Nespresso (bought at William Sonoma), takes these packets and makes different coffee drinks.

...It's okay for a quicky.

I've tried a lot of coffee machines, trying to avoid going to buy it at a coffee shop, but I'm starting to realize that there isn't much savings and it becomes another thing that is 'your problem.' To clean, to get coffee (er, packets, depending), clean or buy cups.... then the pumps go bad in these instant-type ones, or the grinders get gunked up in the proper brewing ones. Then your in the grocery store and there is like 50 different brands, and you can either get the one that tastes like not-clean-3am-just-met-her-at-a-bar-pussy or upgrade to expensive but not so bad one, or go to a coffee shop to buy it and then pay so much for the beans you might as well have had them make the bloody thing for you.

Ends up being a worse headache than just not having the coffee in the first place.

Sorry, I'm just venting.

We have one. I think the coffee it makes is on the better side of decent.

But it makes more than coffee: Teas and Hot Chocolates too.

It is expensive when you figure out your price per cup vs standard drip but you do get flexibility in exchange.

My Wife bought it. Me? I wouldn't have worried about it.

I have not used one of those machines. I prefer fresh ground coffee.

I have a superautomatic espresso machine which will make several shots within 2-3 minutes from a cold start. I also just purchased a new Zojirushi Fresh Brew drip coffee maker along with a permanent gold filter. This thing is awesome! It makes excellent coffee and the absence of a hot plate means no burnt taste. It is extremely fast. I can pour one coffee mugs worth of water in it and the appropriate amount of grounds and have freshly ground/brewed hot coffee in less than 4 minutes.

the hot chocolate is offensive to my tongue. using this for making tea is even dumber. Pour hot water into cup. Add milk and sugar to taste. however my wife loves it. Coffee is not my thing and I've had the chance to drink some of the best. A proper english breakfast tea is something I can always go for though. Down in Texas they add Ice to tea and leave out the milk. It's very sad, but you take what you can get somedays.

I use mine to make hot chocolate, but not from a K-Cup. I just use it as a hot water maker. The water comes out around 190°F (you set the temp). I put the hot cocoa mix in a cup and then have the maker provide the hot water.

I've used one variety of tea K-Cup and enjoyed it (it was a decaf green tea).

My parents had a Nespresso, and I remember before it died being concerned about how much those little packets cost. The savings vs going to a coffee shop are greatly diminished. Another thing I don't like about the prepackaged convenience is that I can't choose how strong my coffee is.

My brother has a Keurig, I'm pretty sure, rather new. I've had one coffee from that machine, and I remember it being decent.

Anyways, I'm just not a fan of the prepackaged because of the reasons above.

My superautomatic espresso kicked the can earlier this year.

I've been on the french press. Yummy. I broke my smaller glass one just last week. Replaced with a taller ceramic, I think it is. I had an ex-gf that would make Italian press every morning. That was pretty yummy, though she made it like it was rocket fuel. Hm, maybe I should get one of those.

Best way to make french press is with water that's not yet boiling. For me, this means the process is somewhat quickened, hehe.

I have the Tassimo one because they have Starbucks brand. I used to drink instant because nobody else drinks coffee at home and I hated brewing a pot for myself. Instant is brutal.

Have you tried the new Starbucks' instant?
