Right now I have all KEF speakers (iQ7front/3speakersurrounds/3waycenter), a Denon 2808...would a Kef sub be a solid choice? I could get it in the finish I want and they look very nice, but how do they play?

I suggest you go with an SVS sub instead.

KEF subs tend to be boomy IMO. And you will need at least 2 if you go with the KEF sub. Another option is to DIY. Then you could get the exact finish you want.

What is your budget, room size, or waf? There are many great subs available and you by no means have to brand your sub to your LCR. Which model KEF were you considering?

You should definitely look for a good low response from your subs. Since the KEF iQ7s can go fairly deep on bass. That also will reduce localization issues.

Kef Psw-2500

I am open to other subs...yet would like a finished product that is furniture as well as a good sub-woofer. The room is about 14" x 24", but the TV and fronts are set back into a space I built for them so they are even with the wall. The ceiling is plaster and the walls are wood panels. Please offer your assist. Thanks.

We've already suggested SVS subs. I suggest you get one or two of those. They have great finishes, great amps, and great drivers for commercial subs.

Not especially deep; low frequency limit is somewhere around 40Hz, but sound quality shouldn't be bad, as long as you don't turn it up too high.

Budget? No more than...mayb $800-(pushing it)$1000.

There are a lot of products in that range, but don't know which ones to checkout. Subwoofers are different than front speakers, etc., hard to figure.

SVS, ED, Hsu, Outlaw Audio, Epik, etc. all make excellent subs that generally outperform 'most' brand name loudspeaker equivalents for less money.
Of course, when money is less of an issue, then REL, Revel, higher end Velodyne, and of course JLs come to the forefront.
Sorry if I left some out. Considering there are some 100 reputable speaker manufacturers there are bound to be more than a dozen sub companies.
